Mouthwash And Bad Breath: The Hidden Hazards
Poor dentistry, including the use of harmful materials is a likely cause of poor health conditions in the mouth as well as your general health.
When you sit in the dentist’s chair and subject yourself to routine dental treatments such as amalgam fillings (mercury), fluoridation and root canal treatments you are giving your dentist permission to harmful poisoning.
Overwhelming proof attests that the genesis of many illnesses starts in the mouth, often in consequence of oral toxicity and subsequent degeneration. Commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes for example can do you more harm than good.
Written on a box of a major brand fluoride toothpaste:
“In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional help or contact a poison control centre straight away. Do not use in children under six years of age. Supervise children over six.”

We read that “..up to 85% of people on a Western diet suffer from some kind of bad breath”. What does”up to” actually really mean and according to whom? Might we be right in suspecting that the research presented was likely paid for by a company needing to raise their sales figures of mouthwash?
If the Americans alone spend over US$500 million each year attempting to eliminate bad breath, can you imagine how much money might be spent worldwide? Many people use mouthwash as part of their daily routine. Do you think they see this as acure for their condition or merely a mask for their condition?”
Will Mouthwash Will Make Bad Breath Go Away? NO!
Mouthwashes are used to kill oral bacteria and freshen the mouth in the hope this will cut down any whiff of bad breath. This is certainly not the case. Mouthwash may mask the odour for a short term but never cures the underlying cause. Much more likely it will worsen the situation as it simply replaces one unpleasant smell with another
There are very few substances that effectively kill bacteria in the mouth without some side-effects. Most mouthwashes utilize a protein precipitating agent (PPA) to stop bacteria from feeding on particles of food. However PPA can trigger an increase of mucus in the mouth which in turn feeds the bacteria that produce bad breath.
The alcohol in the mouthwash will dry the tissues of your mouth, effectively preventing your saliva from washing away bacteria. Mouthwash is used to provide immediate benefits but is a long term disaster as it works against all your natural defences and ultimately creates a dirtier mouth. Several research papers have shown that mouthwashes containing alcohol (especially ethanol) might be the base cause of oral cancers. Some mouthwashes contain as much as 27% alcohol “more than wine or beer“. CHECK THE LABELS!
After a treatment from the hygienist, it takes only a few hours before any evidence of plaque can be seen. Once mouthwash is used, this plaque increase will occur within a much shorter time-span. If mouthwash with PPA is used, the mouth becomes a magnet for the bacteria that cause bad breath. So are there any halitosis cures that work?
What’s the best mouthwash to help bad breath?
You already have it and it’s free: your own saliva. Fresh clean saliva will only kill the bacteria that doesn’t belong in the mouth without causing any damage to the friendly bacteria that are there to protect it.
